ABOUT US

Elmy's Special Services helps persons with disabilities, their loved ones, and those who care for them. Elmy's has been helping families and improving the quality of life of its clientele for more than 20 years. The group was founded to assist low-income immigrant families unable to obtain social assistance owing to a lack of familiarity with the local language and culture. Since then, Elmy's Special Services has expanded to provide a complete variety of supporting services to a much larger clientele.

With the help of community stakeholders, Elmy's Special Services provides programs that foster independence, support individual dignity, and promote chances for children to live full and happy lives in their natural environs. With the support of activities that foster social and intellectual engagement, educational opportunities, therapeutic exercises, and safe and inclusive possibilities for clients to integrate into the greater community, Elmy's helps clients and their families achieve these objectives. The following is a list of some of the services we provide.

Services for children under the age of three with impairments are provided via early intervention. The program aims to assist these youngsters in reaching their developmental goals and building life skills. Our Special Services early intervention programs are tailored to each child's unique needs, supported by Elmy's Special Services. It is necessary that the kid resides in New York City and has been diagnosed with a developmental or physical delay or impairment, such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome or autism, to be eligible for these services.

With the help of Elmy's Special Services, persons with disabilities may stay in the comfort of their own homes. Some customers need only a few hours of care daily; others may need care 24 hours a day or more. Referrals from the attending physician are required for home care services to be provided. An intake nurse will assess the house from Elmy's Special Services to identify the services, equipment, supplies, and prescriptions most beneficial to the client. As the requirements of the patient change, the care plan may be changed to reflect those changes.

Elmy's Special Services provides after-school programs that include educational help, socializing, and recreational activities in a secure atmosphere. To be eligible for the after-school program, clients must be between the ages of six and nineteen and have a documented developmental handicap. Each client's treatment plan includes help with schoolwork and achieving their IEP objectives. The library, daily writing assignments, games, crafts, and holiday celebrations are some of the most common activities.

A space where persons with disabilities may meet and socialize with their peers is provided through day habilitation programs. Various volunteer, social, and work-related activities are offered to clients from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every weekday. Transportation to and from the facility is provided by Elmy's Special Services every day.

To assist persons with disabilities in remaining in their homes and communities, Elmy's Special Services provides community habilitation programs. Individual plans are developed with participation from the patient's loved ones and health care providers. Training on daily living tasks such as money management and personal hygiene is part of the program. It also involves home visits and community events. Clients are also encouraged to think about their futures.

People with developmental impairments may get residential assistance from Elmy's Special Services to help them become more self-sufficient. As a result, the homes strive to assist their residents in becoming more integrated into their communities. In the residential environment, staff members are sensitive to the wishes and requirements of each resident while also providing recreational and social opportunities for them all. These highly trained people also help with daily tasks like making food, shopping, and cleaning the house.

A Brooklyn-based respite service, Elmy's Special Services, provides a break from the ongoing obligations of caring for a disabled family member. Families need time to conduct errands, even if it's only for the weekend or a mental health vacation. During holidays and weekends, respite care in and out of the house is available from Elmy's.

For children with special needs, Elmy's Special Services provides summer programs where they may meet new friends, learn new skills, and gain more self-confidence. Decision-making, social-emotional and character-building skills are the core of the activities. From the end day of one school year to the first day of the next, Elmy's offers daily transportation to and from camp.

Elmy's Special Services provides a wide range of services, including these. Elmy's Special Service's staff members are firm believers that every person, regardless of age or handicap, can develop and take advantage of opportunities and accomplish their objectives. Therefore, without regard to colour, creed, or sexual orientation, this organization delivers its services with the greatest respect for the person's inherent dignity.
